Lets Build Your Immune System

Lets Build Your Immune System

With spring just around the corner, there is no time for complacency with our immunity. The flu season still has at least a month to run, dont let it get the better of you now! We don't plan to get sick, but a cold or flu can strike without warning, rendering us out of action until the body can build up its immunity to fight the infection.

Our immune system is incredible, every day fighting the battle for us against unwelcome bacteria and viruses. But sometimes, when we are stressed, not sleeping well or not eating a stellar diet, we let our guard down and our immune system weakens.

Now is the time to strengthen and nourish, ready for the months ahead. Nutrition is one of the best ways to enhance immunity.

TIPS TO SUPPORT AND STRENGTHEN YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM

Enjoying colourful fruit and vegetables everyday is crucial, choosing organic or pesticide free produce. Include plenty of nutritional insurance foods like garlic, camu camu (high in natural vitamin C), bone broths and nutrient rich soups.

Include living foods every day like kefir, kombucha, kim chi and sauerkraut

Add warming spices to your every day cooking like cardamon, turmeric, ginger, cumin and cinnamon

Go easy on your digestion with blended, pureed, soups and broths

Avoid eating or drinking anything too cold, as this reduces our digestive fire

Stay hydrated every day with coconut water and sip on herbal teas like ginger and lemongrass throughout the day.

Include the nutritional all stars - Astragalus, Echinacea, manuka honey with high MGO, Kyolic, vitamin ACE and D

Don't find yourself short on zinc, this is our all important immune mineral, which affects multiple pathways, including the immune response. Keep your immune system in check with zinc rich foods that include nuts and seeds (remember to soak them), chickpeas, lentils and oysters. If you feel you may be running low, consider taking a zinc supplement.
