What is Teff?

Have you heard about the new super seed Teff?  Gluten free, this little power packed ball of goodness could take over from quinoa.  Originating from Ethiopia, packed full of resistant starch/fibre, protein, calcium, iron  & B vitamins.  Ideas on how to use it check out the giving tree website for lots of ideas.





1 1/2 cups of water (or almond milk for extra creaminess)

1/2 cup  Teff Super Seeds

Honey to sweeten

Handful of blueberries

Sprinkle of flaked almonds

Optional: 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

  1. Place teff seeds and water (or milk) inside a saucepan and bring to the boil
  2. Simmer for approximately 7 minutes or until a desired consistency is achieved (if porridge too thick, simply add more liquid)
  3. Add honey  (and cinnamon) to desired level of sweetness mix thoroughly
  4. Pour into bowl and serve with blueberries and flaked almonds sprinkled on top
